Qmunity’s Chronically Queer
CQ provides a safe, supportive environment where LGBTQIA2S+ identified people living with chronic health conditions and/or disabilities can come together and share what is happening in their lives.
CQ is a peer-facilitated support group where participants can be themselves fully and openly without fear of judgment. We provide participants an opportunity to engage in a encouraging and caring environment, share personal stories/feelings, listen as others share their experiences, and learn coping strategies.
Discussion topics include self-care, coming out as someone with a disability, grief and loss, coping with challenges, spirituality, isolation, dating, sexuality, navigating the medical system, and how to effectively advocate for yourself and/or others.
Regular Meetings
We meet the second Wednesday of the month from 6:00-8:00pm at the South Burnaby Neighbourhood House at 4460 Beresford St.
We meet the fourth Wednesday of the month from 6:00-8:00pm at Qmunity’s accessible office at 610-1033 Davie Street in Vancouver.
Online Groups
As Chronically Queer understands that Wednesdays don’t work for all members, that people have restrictions due to their chronic health conditions, transportation, and/or geographical location, and that not everyone is ready/comfortable to sit in a room with people they don’t know, we have set up an online group. Stay posted to this page for dates and times. These meetings will be scattered as our facilitator fits them into their schedule and in hopes that scattered meetings gives as many people as possible the chance to participate in a meeting.
